Noted Worshippers

Wellington's MonumentNoted worshippers in this church have included the boy who was to become the Duke of Wellington, and who was a pupil of the vicar, the Reverend Henry Michell. Wellington's Monument is unmissable by the font. Dr Johnson, who worshipped in the Thrales' family pew when he stayed in Brighton, is commemorated by a plaque on a window ledge in the north wall by the vestry door. In more recent times the noted actress Dame Flora Robson, who lived nearby, was a member of the congregation and through her the Lady Chapel acquired the carved wooden Stations of the Cross, presented by the then President of Ghana.
